Apple Cider vs Mulled Apple Cider

Before we move on to start making our Mulled Apple Cider recipe, lets look into the differences between apple cider and mulled apple cider.

Apple cider is unfiltered apple juice served warm or cold. Mulled Apple Cider is unfiltered apple juice (or apple cider) that has been simmered with fruits and spices. In this recipe, the only fruit I simmer with it is apples but you are welcome to add orange slices, lemon slices and or even fresh cranberries.

Simple ingredients needed

  • 6 Cups unfiltered Apple Juice (we used Simply Apple Juice)– Make sure it is pure and real. Apple Cider can be found seasonally in the grocery store usually in the fall and winter months.
  • 10 Cinnamon Sticks– This is the best way to flavor your cider. Allow the cinnamon to simmer and slowly infuse. If all you have on hand is ground cinnamon, that will work in a pinch too.
  • 3 Small Apples– Apples make a simple garnish for the simmering pot.
  • 1 Small Crock Pot or 4 Quart Stock Pot– This recipe can also be scaled up so a bigger container may be needed.

Look at this Crock Pot! It’s a thrift store find and so vintage looking. This little crock pot is just the right size for simmering just about anything. I think the looks of it makes me enjoy using it that much more. If you have a cute little crock, it makes the perfect simmering pot. Otherwise, a pan on the stove works great as well!
